Lovely hardware, with a few small issues with the software.
Looks nice, size and weight makes it feel sturdy, spring action on slide is a welcome sensation to anyone who ever used slider phones.
Battery life is normal for this type of product, you will get over 4 days with normal use.
Watch out for Samsung service constant attempts to get you to call their 900 number. Use
e-mail and just wait for response the next day.
Also note that the repair center returned my phone with exactly the same problem it had before it spend almost 4 weeks "being repaired".

A few small issues with the software:
1)Can't sync agenda correctly with outlook - meetings are all shifted by 2 hours.
Samsung service will give you a good run around - reload software, change PC time zone, bring to us to update software - none cure the problem.
2)Camera takes so long to start you wonder if the buttons are working
3)If you archive the pics on your PC, new pictures names on the camera start from beginning, so you need to rename constantly if you don't want to overwrite.
4)The phone and memory card do not show up in explorer when the phone is connected to a PC, making copying stuff into or out of the phone just a little more labor intensive then it needs to be...
5) Installed the PC suit fresh from Samsung site? great, immediately after, you need to download some 380 files on a mandatory live update.

about number 4 of your contra's: go to settings and search for USB-settings.. change that to mass-storage. if you enable that u will be able to view your phone's memory card in explorer.

if you could elaborate on exactely why you think it's "lovely hardware" and incorporate the negatives inside of the review instead of in the summary it would be an overall better review. There should be more to tell about a phone than just this small piece of written opinion don't you think? How's the menu? The options? The extras? The screen? The software support? Internet? Java? etc. etc. etc. C'mon, you can do better!

Do you have identical time zones on both your phone and your computer?

Yes, both are Netherlands (+1) time zone. I even tried to change the phone time zone to (-2) but it made no difference. I also tried to set the phone 2 hours ahead of the actual time so I get the meetings alarm on time - but then the sync would fail until I changed the phone time back.
just got it back from Samsung repair center, still same problem.

Negakinu - I did write why I think the hardware is nice - "Looks nice, size and weight makes it feel sturdy, spring action on slide is a welcome sensation to anyone who ever used slider phones.".
Also keep in mind that unlike a lot of mobile reviews on other sites that are written by sales departments and are full of brochures copy paste, mine can only cover what I personally experienced, and it will never be as complete as the brochure, still, point taken, I'll add some more info once (or if...) it's fixed
