If you cannot afford to spend this sum of money then you should probably decide on a card on NVIDIA Riva TNT2 M64 or 3dfx Velocity 100. As for 3dfx Voodoo3 2000, we don't think it is really worth buying, since there is a cheaper version with the same performance. As for the memory size of NVIDIA Riva TNT2 M64, we wouldn't hunt for 32MB on the cards like that, because the narrower memory bus won't let you use the local graphics memory to the full extent.
As for S3 Savage4 based graphics card, we could recommend this card only if you can't live without Unreal/Unreal Tournament, where it will definitely prove better than anything else. And if you are fond of other games, you'd better forget about these graphics cards at all. S3 seems to be unable to improve its software for S3 Savage4 chipset.

Daarom is het, vind ik tenminste, over het algemeen het slimste om bij aanschaf van een nieuw beestje goedkope hardware te nemen (met voldoende geheugen). De laatste vijf jaar is de performance van 'low-end' hardware snel genoeg voor de meeste dingen en je houd geld over om een half jaar later weer nieuwe 'low-end-hardware' te kopen. Het enige wat je koopt als je gaat voor het laatste en nieuwste is een half jaar voorsprong. Sommige mensen hebben het nodig of verdienen ruimschoots meer dan dat extra-bedrag maar voor de meesten geldt dat totaal niet.
Ik heb zelf een savage4 en ik vind die kaart echt niet slecht hoe ze het hierboven beschreven hebben. Als je de nieuwste drivers hebt downgeload heb haal ik met mijn AMD k6-2 300MHZ met Savage4 64 mb ram snellere graphics dan een Pentium 2 300MHZ met TNT en 64 mb ram. Die met geforce drivers compatible is.
