Yamaha drives are known for speed and quality, which is reinforced by its support for the 80 minute (700 MB) CDs that have become increasingly popular over the past few months. The package comes complete with 1 CD-R and 1 CD-RW disc to burn data using Adaptec's Easy CD Creator v3.5c. As most users of CD-R/RW drives know, Adaptec's Easy CD Creator is almost the standard application used for writing CDs. It includes all of the features needed to successfully create your own discs, and does so with a nice, clean, interface. Another good CD-R software to use is CDRWin from Golden Hawk, which has proven to be very reliable and fast. Also included with the Yamaha are Adobe's PhotoDeluxe and PageMill 3.0, which are both excellent programs for beginner to intermediate digital imaging and web site creation.To boost reliability and features, Yamaha has included an upgradable Flash ROM into the CRW8424EZ. This allows you to instantly upgrade the firmware on your drive to remedy any compatibility issues that may arise, or provide new found performance enhancements.
