In navolging van de Klipsch komt ook Altec Lansing met THX gecertificeerde multimedia speakers op de markt. Het setje bestaat uit een subwoofer met 4 satellites en heeft een vormogen van 120Watt. Hier de soep van AGN Hardware:
Mile Ballard was kind enough to pass along the news of the new Adaptec ADA885 Speakers that were in the Dell Catalog. These new speakers look to be exactly the same as the ADA880R that I just reviewed, with the exception of THX support rather than AC-3 support. Considering that the speakers only include 4 satellites, THX support sounds like a better move in my book anyway. After all it is kind of hard to give up the center channel speaker when watching a DVD movie in AC-3 format. THX on the other hand will work independently with all 4 speakers and the subwoofer, to deliver a true movie like experience to your PC.The Klipsch Promedia V2-400 were the first PC speakers to offer THX support, bringing a new level of audio to the PC. Now it looks like Altec Lansing has managed to go through all of the approval that the THX group requires for you to have certified speakers. We are going to have Altec Lansing on the All Games Hardware show on the 19th of this month, so I plan on asking them for more information on the ADA885 speakers. As it stands now the only place to get these speakers is from the Dell catalog, but I am sure that will change given time. Let's just hope Pricewatch based online stores pick up these speakers and offer them for near cost, giving the folks at Klipsch some competition for THX sound.
