Geen dual processor support voor Pentium 3 500E & 550E

Bij Overclockers' Workbench wordt verteld dat de FC-PGA Coppermine P3's 500E en 550E niet beschikken over dual processor support. En da's best jammer want ze bleken eerder wel zwaar goed overklokbaar te zijn. Onderstaande tabel met de info leen ik even van Overclockers' Workbench:

Ben bang dat je toch gefopt bent door de intel-PR man van sharky extreme, want deze tabel staat daar ook, op hun versie van de tabel is exact hetzelfde als deze.

Dus ik vermoed toch dat intel per ongeluk expres dual processor uit de 500E en 550E gesloopt hebben.

"As far as Dual-Processor compatibility goes, there has been a bit of confusion whether or not the FC-PGA Pentium III does in fact support it. These Dual-Processor questions stem from information found on the Intel site stating the FC-PGA is not validated for Dual-Processor systems. After perusing the Intel Developer Forum, I found that it's not a technical limitation of the CPU, but simply means that Intel has not run full Dual-Processor validation tests on the FC-PGA processors. To help clear up this question, Intel has assured us that the FC-PGA Pentium III is fully supported under SMP or Dual-Processor implementations."

staat er dus niet dat het eruit gesloopt is. Celeron waren ook niet voor dual... officieel dan.

Als het dan toch er uit is gesloopt, dan verschijnt er op korte termijn toch wel een mammaplankje of convertertje om toch dual FC-PGA te gebruiken.

Mindfields: Dat hadden ze toch al op de Comdex? Dat Gigabyte bordje met Dual FC-PGA, PCI-64 en Ultra-160M SCSI en nog wat leuk spul?

Geen enkel platform draait game servers zo lekker als een x86 *nix systeem met een dual P3 erin.

Ja dat is waar, Martijn. Maar een bordje zonder SCSI zou ook fijn zijn, wordt ie teminste niet zo duur.

Zo erg is dat toch niet.

Wie koopt nog een Pentium 3 als er Athlon is?
