GA-Source vroeg Brian Burke, PR poppetje van 3dfx, naar de redenen achter het besluit om Glide open source te maken. Hier een snipper uit dit interview:
Q: Does the recent announcement that Glide is open sourced mean that other companies (Nvidia, Matrox etc.) could write a glide "wrapper" and ship their products with glide support? Basically what some companies are doing now just without the "reverse engineering" context.A: If they choose to they could.
Q:I know you were still using the Heavy Metal system at Comdex to show off the FSAA and T-Buffer Cinematic effects. Do you have actual silicon of the VSA-100, and is the timeframe for the release of the V4/V5 still on track?
A: The product delays we announced earlier made it impossible to have hardware for Comdex. The factors that caused the delay have been fixed. The product is still on schedule to ship in Spring 2000.
