Bij GA-Source is een review te vinden van de Guillemot Maxi Sound Fortissimo soundcard. Hieronder wat info over zijn 3D Audio kwaliteit, waar ze erg te spreken over zijn:
This is the main point behind buying any of the newer soundcards, and the Fortissimo really does a nice job. I played my standard "suite" of 3d audio games, and I was very happy about the quality. In the special EAX demo levels of Unreal that Creative Labs made, I would have to say the Fortissimo sounds better than the Live! In all of the other games, the Fortissimo was right up there with the Live! and SQ2500 in terms of immersion and 3D sound. Part of this is due to the the Fortissimo using Sensaura's audio processing.
Sensaura has some specialty pieces of their algorithms that help make DirectSound3D games sound more realistic. The largest single one that you definitely notice is their MacroFX. MacroFX handles the near-field effects such as bullets that whiz by your head, or anything else that comes closer than a certain distance from your head (such as whispers, etc). One of the nice things about a feature like this is that UNLIKE EAX or A3D, MacroFX requires no sound programming beyond normal DirectSound 3D setup. The difference between this and the other cards is that when a razorjack passes near you on the Fortissimo, you move your head. Sensaura was put a lot of effort into making games sound better in DirectSound3D (which covers more games than EITHER EAX or A3D) rather than attempting to promote their own proprietary effects set.
One thing I also have to say is that I feel that the Sensaura sound algorithms give the best 3D sound of any of the majors (EAX or A3D) through 2 speakers or headphones. I have to let you know that this may not be true for each of you. This has to do with the HRTFs (Head Related Transfer Functions). The HRTFs define how your ears create a 3D sound image. Although the Sensaura HRTFs have a better match to my ears when used with 2 speakers, you may find one of the others to be as good or better.
