Het engelse bedrijf Printable Field Emitters Ltd. heeft een field-emission display gedemonstreerd met 32x32px resolutie. Met behulp van deze technologie moet het in de toekomst mogelijk worden om grote flat panel displays tegen relatief lage prijzen te produceren:
Printable Field Emitters Ltd., a U.K. startup, has produced a 32 x 32-pixel monochrome prototype display based on its patented ink-printable broad-area field-emitter technology. The company said its technology will allow large-area flat-panel displays to be produced at lower cost than plasma-display panels or alternative field-emission displays (FEDs).The company made its debut in January of this year with a three-pixel tricolor demonstration of its technology and promised to move on to larger prototypes.
"Our small team has produced this demonstration device three months ahead of schedule, 20 percent under budget and with four times the number of pixels originally planned," said Andy Harding, chief executive officer of Printable Field Emitters (PFE). "This demonstrates the simplicity of the technology."
