JC zegt veel positieve opmerkingen over de overklokbaarheid van de Athlon 500 binnen te krijgen. Veel CPU's draaien 600MHz uit het doosje, wie geluk heeft haalt zelfs 700Mhz:
You know, I am just getting more and more tempted every day towards purchasing the modified Athlon at Trinity Micro. I mean, now that we know that just about all 500MHz Athlons are just downbinned K7-600 cores (for latecomers among you, if you have a 500MHz Athlon and take apart the casing, you'll see a 600MHz K7 chip inside, most likely), I'm realizing that it'd be insanely cool to buy a modified 500, then clock it to 600, then try my hand at overclocking to 700 and maybe above! Aargh, if only I wasn't waiting on other purchases! [break] ...en recenter: [/break] Meanwhile, I'm getting more and more stories about people very conservatively (conservatively!) clocking their 500MHz K7/Athlons to 700MHz. I feel SOOOOO behind the times now! Of course, I should let you know: Our local "distributor" is offering us one of those one time deals for the Athlon and a FIC SD11, and they're hinting at a sharply reduced price. If its cheap enough, I'll go for it (this is for the office, not for my home luvin'). But I really would prefer getting one of those modified Athlons with the [genericmanufacturer] K7M.
Nu hebben we alleen nog zo'n kant en klaar Goldfinger dipswitch dingetje nodig .
