Andy van BXBoards heeft een Athlon 500 en PIII-500 op de pijnbank gelegd en er een zooitje benchmarks overheen gedraaid. Hier een hap uit z'n conclusie:
There is no doubt that AMD have a genuinely fast CPU, and Intel must be worried. The scores obtained here can only get better, when mainboard technology and chipsets improve. The scales could tip again when Intel launches the 0.18 micron P3, with 256k of full speed cache, but this is merely shrinking and tinkering with old technology. The Athlon is all new technology, building on the underrated DEC Alpha platform and bus architecture. With the Athlon 700Mhz already available, AMD not only have the faster like for like clock-speed processor, they also have the highest numbers in Mhz as well. For those who want the fastest, the Athlon is the only game in town right now.
