With this current generation of cards there's going to be a larger division between speed and eye candy. The GeForce cards will have blazingly fast framerates at the lower resolutions, but the limited texels/s fill rate will cause the cards to wither in the face of high resolutions. You'll enjoy great high poly environments, but fill rates will probably limit the GeForce to 1024 x 768 and enabling any features that require extra rendering passes will knock you down to 800 x 600 or even 640 x 480.The 3dfx card on the other hand will have the fill rates to get you up to 1600 x 1200 and higher. They'll make up for the lack of polygon detail with high resolution detail and fill rate intensive features. What kind of eye candy do you want? High polys or high resolution? How about both? That's where the Savage2000 comes into play. The Savage2000 has T&L and a healthy 700-800Mtexels/s fill rate. On paper, the Savage2000 looks like it offers the best of both worlds, along with unparalleled DVD/DTV support.
