As we established in the Alpha heatsink review, the cache on the Pentium II/III series is probably the most frustrating factor in overclocking. The Pentium III 450 comes with either -4ns or -4.4ns cache. We'll only be working with -4ns cache, since those are the ones that will make it to 600MHzSince the cache runs at 1/2 the speed of the processor, we need to find chips with cache that will run at 300MHz. Well, a -4ns part is only spec'ed to run at 250MHz, so even with 4ns cache, you aren't guaranteed to hit 600MHz. This is where the special report gets interesting.
