Intel zal in de eerste helft van 2000 een nieuw Xeon model met geïntegreerde L2 cache introduceren. Dankzij lagere produktiekosten zal deze processor zich ook op het low-end marktsegment kunnen richten:
Intel Corp. plans to push its Pentium III Xeon processor into the low end next year.In the first half of 2000, the chip maker plan to introduce two 700+MHz Xeon procesor, one with 2MB and the other wit 1MB of integrated Level 2 cache.
"The integrated cache will allow us to extend Xeon into the more affordable low end", said John Miner, vice president and general manager of the comapany's communications products group, during his keynote speech here Wednesday at the Intel Developers Forum.
