GameWire.org heeft een behoorlijk dikke review van de C&C2: Tiberian Sun Platinum Edition gepost. Hier heb je een stukje over de gameplay en AI:
This game is about the same as StarCraft, which is good and bad. There are a lot more controls like "Set Tactical Map Location (Control + F10) and Rally Points (Control+Alt+Left Mouse Click.). The AI is a lot worse in the early missions too, I only had one unit die (my medic) in the third mission, and I am probably the worst RTS player in GameWire (well there is Stan and DingDon…). Units are smart sometimes, but can be stupid other times. Like my engineers kept on running in front of my units (something stupid) but my medics would automatically go around and heal everyone. There are a lot of new units, and you can even upgrade some of the buildings. Most of the buildings from Command and Conquer do not return. Of the 38 buildings in C&C, only 18 return to C&C 2.
One really cool thing is the addition of shrapnel. It sometimes causes more damage in shrapnel then the actual unit did! Something else that is good is the addition of veteran status to your units. Nod Buggies that become veterans can shoot at air units, very cool stuff.
The game play is almost exactly like Command & Conquer: Gold. The units are almost all the same and the units that are new perform many of the same functions that the missing units from the first games did. The Devil's Tongue is basically a flamethrower. The stealth tank is still the same, and the basic infantry is too. The only new unit is the mutant hijacker who hijacks vehicles, somewhat useful but usually very short lived. They could have made this game an add-on for Command and Conquer, instead of making a whole new game out of it, the differences are negligible. The Gameplay is still as good as it ever was; just not enough has changed for me to hail this as the next best thing. The game is a lot of fun to play, both online and in the single player campaigns.
