Wazig bericht bij CRUS: daar zeggen ze uit betrouwbare bron (Guillemot) te hebben vernomen dat de nVidia NV10 chipset al in september gereleased zal worden. Hier's de de soep:
Now it’s confirmed. The NV10 chipset from Nvidia will be released in a month and we will also see a graphic card in early September using the NV10 Chipset. I have been talking with a press spokesman at Guillemot and he confirmed that Guillemot will show the graphic card at ECTS and that’s probably the first time that we will see some image quality and speed specs of the chipset. [break] En over de prijs:[/break] I don’t actually think that the price will be a problem as almost all graphic cards that have been released lately have been at the price range so that almost everyone can afford one and the ones that can’t afford the card will get a great chance to buy a TNT 2 or another older graphic card at a lower cost when the NV10 is out. 3dfx also need to lower their prices when the NV10 is released so that it competes with the NV10 if we take price into the consideration
Ik vind het allemaal nogal vaag. Er zijn nog erg weinig harde feiten over de NV10 bekend en een release volgende maand lijkt me dan ook niet erg realistisch. Een introductie prijs van $300 lijkt me ook moeilijk haalbaar aangezien de NV10 vrij kostbaar zal zijn om te produceren (veel transistors ivm T&L engine => grotere die size => hogere produktie kosten).
