Er is hoop voor Linux fanaten die ook wel eens zin hebben in een heftige UT deathmatch: er zal niet alleen een Unreal Tournament server komen voor Linux, maar misschien zelfs een client. Voodoo Extreme brengt de info:
Our buddy David "Anth" Linquist shot off an email correspondence that he had with Epic's Tim Sweeney regarding a Linux server and client port of Unreal Tournament. Check it (Tim's response):
Linux server port: Definitely. Soon after Unreal Tournament ships.
Linux client port: Considering it. Not sure yet.
-Tim [break]Meer blije info: er zal een demo van Unreal Tournament worden gereleased, zo wordt ons door James Schmalz verzekerd in een posting op het GT forum:[/break] Here is why you can trust us to have a demo on UT.
On Unreal we wanted to have a demo, but we wanted to have solid multiplayer code for it. Well, obviously that took a _real_ long time. Now everyone who has wanted to play Unreal pretty much has. At this point it would almost seem silly to release a demo for Unreal. We might release it just for kicks after UT is finished.
On UT, we are not going to release this game until it is totally solid in every department. If we released it and it had problems as bad as Unreal, we would be really screwed. We are not about to make the same mistake twice We are going to do it right.
So, UT will not go to the store shelves until we are totally happy with it and in that case we will be totally comfortable releasing a demo. The demo is already prepared, so it's ready to be released when the game goes to manufacturing.
