Alpha P125C cooler review

3DGaming.com heeft een review gepost van de Alpha P125C cooler. Dit ding is zo'n beetje het beste wat je op het gebied van PIII heatsinks kunt krijgen:

How does the Alpha combat the heat situation? Well, when you get the box you will see. The heatsink is huge, and very well designed, allowing heat to be transferred from the core of the CPU to the heatplate to the heatsink. This is one reason why effective use of thermal grease is important. Air bubbles between the thermal surfaces can heat to extremely high temperatures, cancelling the effect you are trying to accomplish.

As you will see in the results section, the Alpha does an excellent job at keeping the core under 90F degrees, even at 560MHz (no L2). I was able to POST at 600MHz (150MHz FSB!!!) but Windows wouldn't finish loading. I am still contemplating a voltage tweak...

The main point is CPU core cooling is not where you are going to encounter a problem in your overclocking adventure, thanks to the Alpha. I was not able to get my CPU over 32C (89F), so heat should not be a big issue.

En voor het geval je 'm wilt kopen: de Alpha cooler kun je voor 29 dollar bestellen bij overclockers.com.
