Window 95 was a 32-bit OS with a lot of 16-bit code, and in Windows 98 you find only slightly less 16-bit code. You can imagine that Windows 2002 will not be fully 64-bit. In fact, it will probably contain some 64-bit optimizations for IA-64 CPUs, but it will take more than a few years to build a 64-bit OS for the desktop market. So, just like the Pentium Pro's performance was hampered by the large amounts of 16-bit code in Windows 95, Deerfield will suffer from all the 32-bit code in Windows 2002.

Novell is al hard bezig met een volledig 64-bits versie van NetWare, maar op een 64-bits versie van NT zullen we nog wel even moeten wachten...
