TEAC, a world leading manufacturer of CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and CD-RW storage technology, today announces the shipping of its new 16x10x40 CD-RW drive, an internal desktop PC peripheral used for the writing and rewriting of data and audio files onto CD-Recordable and CD-Rewritable media. The new 16x10x40 CD-RW represents the industry’s fastest write and rewrite speeds and meets business and consumer demands for faster performance. The TEAC 16x10x40 CD-RW is the latest in the company’s line of internal and external CD-RW products for both Windows and Macintosh users.
The TEAC 16x10x40 CD-RW drive writes data or audio files at 16X (CD-R), rewrites at 10X (CD-RW) and can playback at 40X (CD-ROM) speeds, coinciding with the fastest CD-R and CD-RW media available today. Four times as fast as the industry’s standard 4X drives, the 16x10x40 is capable of writing an entire 650MB CD-R disc in less than 5 minutes, storing data and/or audio, including large presentations or graphics such as photos and home videos. The
CD-RW drive can also be used to record mixed music CDs using downloaded .wav and MP3 files.
The new drive delivers a maximum digital extraction rate of 32X and provides a smooth, even flow of data supported by a 2MB data buffer. The TEAC 16x10x40 also has technology in place to prevent buffer underrun errors, insuring successful recordings with no bad discs. In addition, its 80ms average access time is the industry’s fastest for CD-RW drives, which provides for high-speed database searches. The 16x10x40 CD-RW also offers the lowest cost per megabyte and highest level of compatibility over any alternative storage solution.
