Sharky Extreme: HyperZ was a good "first-step" in reducing the limitations imposed by memory bandwidth. Will future ATI products utilize refined implementations of HyperZ?
Dave Orton: Yes, future ATI products will utilize refined technologies to alleviate the limitations imposed by memory bandwidth. ATI recognized that memory bandwidth is of great importance - this was taken into consideration during the design and development phases of the Radeon product. As a result, the Radeon is ahead of its time in terms of tackling this issue. Radeon's implementation of Hyper Z, however, is just a first step in our efforts. Does ATI have any plans to sell modern chips and card designs to third party manufacturers who would then produce and market video cards under their own brand name? In other words, will we ever see the equivalent of a Creative or ELSA RADEON?
Dave Orton: ATI has a solid team that delivers Radeon technologies in boards, mobile, and integrated products. We continue to look at the best way to bring our technologies to market in a timely and cost effective way.
