BXBoards heeft een review van de PIII geplaats. Hier een hapje :
Each new Intel CPU is mooted as the latest and greatest - it's all part of the marketing game. The Slot 1 Pentium line is now at its 3rd iteration with the release of the Pentium III - first Klamath, then Deschutes and now Katmai. One would expect that the latest chip would also bring improvements to the CPU core. Leaving aside the KNI instructions for a moment, just how many improvements to the Pentium core have Intel provided...?
I thought it would be interesting to do a like for like comparision and to compare Deschutes, Mendocino and Katmai cores. The problem is that that in order to test core speeds, it is necessary to test at both the same multiplier and bus speed - no easy task. For this testing I therefore underclocked the PIII-500 to 5 x 66, and ran it at this speed against a P2-333 and also a Celeron 333. With all CPU's running at 5x 66Mhz, any core improvements will reveal themselves. Let's have a look at those new core improvements...
