Robszombie bracht ons een link naar deze review van CPU Burn over de AOpen AW744 Pro, een geluidskaartje gebaseerd op de Yamaha YMF744 4 Channel Audio Accelerator chipset. Hoewel de kaart overweg kan met EAX en A3D is hij vooral interessant voor de muziekfreak en MIDI liefhebbers. Hieronder wat meer info over zijn kwaliteiten:
. I was very impressed with it's spatial capabilities. With all 4 speakers connected I could easily tell that the Dolby Pro Logic output of Power DVD was working. I could hear the movement back and to the right of me in Thief II. Sonic quality is also excellent. Again this sound card is based off the Yamaha YMF744 chipset. Yamaha has been making professional midi and wave tables for a very long time, and this sound card shows that they still know what they are doing. Aopen did a superb job of crafting this card from the Yamaha reference design.
[...] This is an awesome sound card for the money. I would recommend this product to anyone. Though there are no games included in the software package, it does include a nice collection of music creation, editing, and playback applications. This card's selling points are not it's gaming capabilities (though it does quite well in that area too), it strives for a much higher and less achievable goal…. audiophile quality sound. I believe Aopen using the Yamaha chipset has come extremely close to hitting this mark! The only problem I can find with this card is that the Yamaha & Karaoke software are not included on the autorun menu. Aside from this small and trivial detail, I believe this to be a superb product.
