The Diamond Monster Fusion card (based on the 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee chip) we tested originally was clocked higher than all other Banshee-based products, and the retail board was clocked slightly slower. However, the differential between the retail board's score and the original's was much larger than the clock-speed differences would account for. Diamond claimed 3Dfx was unable to sustain production of the higher speed part, so Diamond was forced to use the slightly slower components in volume shipments.
