Thresh's Firingsquad heeft een review gepost van de Turtle Beach Montego II. Deze kaart beschikt net zoals de MX300 over een Aureal Vortex II chipset. Handig dus om die twee ff te vergelijken:
Like all Vortex 2 boards, the Montego 2 works great with the Aureal reference drivers. Since the drivers are the same, so was the functionality, which I covered in my MX300 review. I certainly couldn't hear any difference between the two cards in terms of audio playback quality.
En de prijs...
For me, 3D Sound and real-world modeling alone justify the price of admission, but at $99 MSRP, you really have to ask yourself who Turtle Beach are targeting. With a high-profile, feature-filled competitor like the MX300 priced identically, the Montego 2 is left up the proverbial creek. Maybe Dell will pay that price to incorporate the Montego 2 in their systems, but no one else should.
BTW: zoals Reinder gisteren wist te melden heeft Hastec (NL Diamond importeur) de MX300 nu ook in z'n assortiment, dus we mogen de MX300 binnenkort in de winkels verwachten.
