Versie 17.0 van Mozilla Firefox is uitgekomen. Nieuw in versie 17 is onder andere dat plugins die als onveilig bekendstaan, standaard uitgeschakeld staan. Ze hebben slechts een click nodig om toch geactiveerd te worden, hoewel het downloaden van een nieuwere versie van die plugin natuurlijk beter is. Verder kan de awesome-bar nu overweg met grotere iconen en zijn er weer diverse verbeteringen voor webontwikkelaars aangebracht. Hieronder is het complete overzicht te vinden van de verbeteringen die we in versie 17.0 aantreffen.

- Sandbox attribute for iframes implemented, enabling increased security
Known Issues
- Over twenty performance improvements, including fixes around the New Tab page
- Pointer lock doesn't work in web apps (769150)
- Page scrolling on sites with fixed headers (780345)
- If you try to start Firefox using a locked profile, it will crash (see 573369)
- For some users, scrolling in the main GMail window will be slower than usual (see 579260)
- Windows: The use of Microsoft's System Restore functionality shortly after updating Firefox may prevent future updates (see 730285)
