Firmware-update: Dell Latitude D820 A02

Enkele dagen geleden heeft computergigant Dell een nieuw bios uitgebracht voor de laptops uit zijn Latitude D820-serie. Het nieuwbakken bios heeft versienummer A02 meegekregen en kan door op deze link te klikken gedownload worden vanaf de ftp-server van Dell. De ontwikkelaars hebben hard gewerkt aan het 'basic input output system', gezien de zestien bugfixes en vijf verbeteringen. Het bios kent een aantal fixes voor een betere werking onder Windows 2000, evenals wat bugfixes met betrekking tot de ondersteuning van diverse hardware. Met biosversie A02 is het ten slotte ook nog mogelijk om de nieuwste Intel core Duo-processors te gebruiken en kent de laptop verbeterde systeemprestaties en ' thermal behavior':

Fixes:

1. Fixed potential issue where the boot selection list may become corrupted in setup.
2. Fixed issue where the Admin password cannot be used to change or delete the Primary HDD password.
3. Fixed issue with Seagate SATA HDDs on resume from suspend.
4. Fixed issue issue seen on Windows 2000 where the CPU would run at an incorrect speed when in battery mode while docked.
5. Fixed an error reported when running the hardware compatability tests.
6. Fixed an issue seen on Windows 2000 where the CPU would run at incorrect speeds after resuming from Hibernate.
7. Fixed an issue where the BIOS setup and SMBIOS may not report the battery present for several seconds after a warm reboot.
8. Fixed an issue where the the Express Card bridge is allocated more resources than is needed.
9. Fixed an issue where the parallel ort status was reported incorrectly in setup.
10. Fixed an issue where the battery capacity was reported incorrectly in SMBIOS.
11. Fixed an issue where when using the WiFi sniffer while in suspend would cause the sniffer LED to light up.
12. Fixed an issue where Computrace (R) would not get locked when the administrator password was set.
13. Fixed an issue where there may be no display screen visable after pressing the key when the SCard insertion prompt is bypassed.
14. Fixed issue where the TPM state may not be restored on resume from suspend.

Enhancements:

1. Added support for newer Intel processors.
2. Improved system performance and thermal behavior.
3. Updated Intel logo displayed during POST.
4. Added support for 64-bit Windows flash program.
