Driver-update - ATI Catalyst Linux Display Driver 8.11

Daarnaast laten de release notes de inmiddels bekende lijst met bugfixes en reeds bekende problemen zien: New Features Support for New Linux Operating Systems RHEL 4.7 support New Display Enhancement This release of ATI Catalyst™ Linux introduces support for display scaling to resize the display devices that support TV timings (480i/p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p) through either digital (DVI or HDMI) or analog (component) interfaces ATI CrossFireX™ Enhancement This release of ATI Catalyst™ enables users to verify whether an application is running in ATI CrossFireX™ mode. The new option found, in the ATI Catalyst™ Control Center, will allow users to verify whether on OpenGL application is running in ATI CrossFireX™ mode, the “ATI CrossFireX” logo will be shown on screen when the application is running. Resolved Issues Display driver installation may not complete when Powersaved has been enabled. The driver now changes hardware power states automatically when unplugging and plugging in AC power on mobile hardware older than Radeon Mobility HD 2xxx series Catalyst Control Center may cause a segmentation fault when launched as Root under SUSE 11. X Server will may not start when using two display adapters with mismatched memory sizes. Corruption may be noticed when playing video content using mplayer. Starting X in dual-head mode with only one monitor connected may result in a black screen and the X Server failing to start. Known Issues Reduced performance may be noticed when running GTKPerf on systems containing an ATI Radeon HD 38x0 or newer product. Primary display will remain blank after switching between virtual terminals with Dual-head Mode. Catalyst Control Center Pixel format settings always set to “RGB 4:4:4 Pixel format (Full RGB)” on restart X Server. Mplayer may stop responding when returning from S3/S4 sleep. X Server may not start when display is configured in Dual-Head mode. Enabling CrossFire may cause intermittent video corruption on the secondary display. X will start in clone mode when “Big Desktop” mode is enabled using Catalyst Control Center. The X Sever may fail to start with some combinations of Linux and ATI display adapter. Using the AMD installer to Generate Distribution Specific Driver Package may fail under Linux SUSE11. Desktop corruption may occur when switching from multiple X windows keeping one console in text mode. Alientrap NEXUIZ game does not immediately exit. Switching from text console to graphical console may cause the mplayer to stop responding during playback. System does not switch to “Optimal Performance” when returning from sleep and plugging AC power. No video displayed during playback of H.264 media file on certain Mobile platforms. The name for the “FirePRO 2450" is incorrectly displayed as “ATI FireMV 2450". CrossFire logo is not shown when playing 3D applications in full screen mode for 64bit Linux distributions. There are no shortcuts available for AMD Catalyst Control Center with KDE4. Please run “amdccle” from a Console Terminal to start the AMD Catalyst Control Center”. Display driver installation may not complete when Powersaved has been enabled. On some motherboards running openSuse 10.3 x86_64 an ACPI BIOS bug can cause a soft hang when starting X with the ATI Proprietary Linux Graphics Driver. Workarounds: Update the system BIOS if available to fix the BIOS bug Update the kernel image to the latest version for openSuse10.3 x86_64, which works around the BIOS bug in the kernel Disable powersaved service when booting up if the BIOS or kernel is not updated After installing AMD Proprietary Linux Graphics Driver, run “aticonfig --acpi-services=off” to disable some ACPI services in the driver. Driver-update - ATI Catalyst 8.10

New Features Catalyst Control Center Fan speed control This release of the ATI software driver version 8.54 introduces the ability for users to control the speed of the GPU fan when running in accelerated graphics. Force Component Video Detection This release allows users the option in Catalyst Control Center to force Component Video detection in the Display Options aspect. By selecting this option user are able to adjust the Component Video property settings (without a device being physically attached) allowing user to change format and frequency to a desired value. The selected values will be applied to the display once a component video display device get connected. The feature is applicable for all AMD products supporting Component Video. Resolved Issues for the Windows Vista Operating System Some video corruption might be noticed when playing certain Blu-ray titles. Disconnecting an HDMI display device during DVD playback may result in Windows Vista failing to respond. Flickering may occur on the primary display when two dual link displays are used. Playing some video file formats under Windows Media Player 11 can cause a time delay response. City of Villains: Flashing observed in the game when super AA is enabled in Catalyst Control Center and the resolution is at 2560x1600. When desktop rotation enabled in OS:Vista Greek some text is cutoff in the default monitor. Performing an express un-install of the display driver on some ATI Radeon HD 48x0 series devices, may intermittently result in the display device failing to display an image. Resolved Issues for the Windows XP Operating System Catalyst Control Center Avivo Gamma control fails to function when playing a DVD using MS Windows Media Player or Cyberlink PowerDVD player. Opening Catalyst Control Center while playing back a HD/SD title with Cyberlink will cause display to go blank. Known Issues Under the Windows Vista Operating System Some video can become corrupt after random seek using the Cyberlink player. Enabling Catalyst Control Center AA-4x and Filter-Edge detect settings can cause some video corruption in OpenGL applications. Known Issues Under the Windows XP Operating System Color corruption can occur when playing some interlaced contents without having Catalyst Control Center installed.
