Software-update: KCheckGmail 0.5.3a

Er zijn veel applicaties die kunnen aangeven of er nieuwe e-mail is binnengekomen op een Gmail-account, echter de meeste werken alleen onder Windows. Op KDE apps is echter een applicatie met de naam KCheckGmail te vinden en deze werkt onder Linux en heeft tenminste KDE 3.2 nodig. Net als bij de Windows-varianten huist dit programma in de systemtray en vertelt het hoeveel boodschappen er in je Gmail-account staan. Onlangs is KCheckGmail aanbeland bij versie 0.5.3a het changelog van de laatste paar versies ziet er als volgt uit:

• Option to use https for checking and viewing mail (see network tab)
• French and Russian translations added
• German and Italian translations updates

de mail notification applet is hier de gnome tegenhanger van denk ik, (en combineert dit met de mogelijkheid om ook pop3, imap etc te checken)

Wat is het nut van dit programma, vermits je je gmail mail kan lezen via outlook bijvoorbeeld.
