Software-update: Auto Gordian Knot 1.85 beta

3px; height:61px;" title="Auto Gordian Knot logo (klein)" alt="Auto Gordian Knot logo (klein)"> Len0x heeft in de vorm van versie 1.85 een nieuwe beta van Auto Gordian Knot uitgebracht. Met dit programma kunnen dvd's en mpeg2-bestanden op een eenvoudige manier worden omgezet naar een avi-bestand. Hiervoor kan gebruik worden gemaakt van DivX of XviD voor videocompressie en AC3, DTS, CBR MP3 of VBR MP3 als geluidscompressie. Bètaversies van dit programma moeten zoals gebruikelijk als update over de laatste stabiele versie heen geïnstalleerd worden. Het changelog van deze release ziet er als volgt uit:

• total duration of a job is displayed in the logs
• fixed minor GUI bugs in audio/subs selection
• autocrop.dll updated to version 1.2
• added additional parameters to control autocrop (see hidden_options.txt), so manual cropping can now be performed
• speed (fps) of comp test is displayed properly
• second audio/subs is now visible by default (no need to press CTRL-F10)

Het blijkt nu dat er sinds versie 1.48 beta ook spyware wordt geïnstalleerd. Len0x zegt hier zelf het volgende over:

• First, dae.dll has nothing to do with AutoGK's "check for update" capability.
• Second, DAE is indeed a BHO-based ad system (sort of like Google's adsense, i.e. its content based). When installed - _very_ rarely it shows ads relevant to the websites you're visiting.
• Third, full DAE disclamer can be found at the end of AutoGK's license.
• Fourth, DAE can be safely uninstalled from add/remove programs with no traces left.
• Fifth, AutoGK will still run without DAE as it doesn't in any way connected to it.
• Sixth, yes, I sold my soul to the devil Meaning this is the dark future I promised you a while ago. Its just a way of keeping the project going. If all goes well I'll not only be able to continue developemnt of AutoGK at a good rate, but (as it requires less time these days) also make some improvements to regular GK.
• Seventh, system is in testing process and only bundled with beta version of AutoGK so far.
• Eighth, it only works within IE (firefox users won't notice it)
• Ninth, dae.dll is really the only file installed.

over de spyware die erin zit.

edit: volgens mij wordt de dae.dll zelfs al geinstalleerd als je nog nieteens de voorwaarden hebt geaccepteerd.
edit2: die dll komt van een vorige versie .

Volgens mij zit er bij deze versie Spyware, schandalig!

Deze melding komt na de 'normale' user agreement van het programma zelf, en moet geaccepteerd worden, anders kan het programma niet geïnstalleerd worden

DLL-etje wissen en comp rebooten en het probleem is weg. Dat staat verder uitgebreid op de eigen site.

De volgende stap is een melding aan de producent van de film die je aan het autoGK-en bent.

Ik geef hem trouwens groot gelijk, er moet bij hem ook eten op tafel komen.

Hij gebruikt al een donatie-systeem waarbij er pas gewerkt wordt aan nieuwe functies als er genoeg donaties binnen gekomen zijn. Dan heb ik liever dat hij het target-bedrag daarvoor wat hoger zet.

Kwetal, maar dat lukte niet erg.
Waar ik het welmee eens bent is wat die jongen op doom9 zegt, namelijk dat je het programma niet meer aan anderen kan adviseren vanwege die spyware.

Waarom lukte dat niet erg? In 1,5 maand heeft hij nu ruim 700 euro aan donaties verdient, dat lijkt mij vrij aardig werken. Het targetbedrag staat op 750 euro.

Ik doneer pas weer (heb het al een keer gedaan) als de spyware er uit is.

Goh... een collectie applicaties bundelen met spyware... Wat een knurft.

Bedel dan gewoon om donaties, dit kan echt niet.
