UltraEdit-32 V8.10b

This is to inform you that UltraEdit-32 v8.10b was released on 6/27/01. NOTE - 16-Bit version is still at v6.20b. This is for bug fixes only.

Column mode functions in macros on large files corrected
Fix for page up positioning in some instances with wide files
Fix for scrolling issues with hidden lines
Tab indent of lines corrected to use indent value as appropriate
Conversion of files to fixed column with null fields corrected

Wat zijn de voordelen t.o.v. EditPlus?

Kijk hier even voor de features en vergelijk deze met EditPlus. Ik heb vroeger wel eens EP gebruikt, maar daarna toch weer snel UE. Ik kan niet vertellen waarom, alles wat ik wilde, zat erin, het zal wel smaak zijn. Ik heb geen idee hoe ver EP nu is. Maar ik weet wel dat ik bij UE blijf

Afgezien van wat kleine verschillen (o.a. folding text in UE en een betere syntax highlighting in EP) zijn de twee editors praktisch gelijk. In deze categorie horen natuurlijk ook TextPad, CodeWright, CRiSP, GWD, en Visual SlickEdit thuis.

Nogmaals, het is een kwestie van smaak. Ik ben bijvoorbeeld met UE produktiever, meer omdat ik het van binnen en buiten ken, dan omdat het een betere featureset heeft dan de anderen.

Het enige lastige van EditPlus vond ik, dat vanwege de integratie met IE, hij een stuk vaker crashte dan UE. Ik heb UE nog nooit zien crashen, wel soms het File Open dialog window, als het netwerk weer eens plat lag...

Hoe zit het met die windows beveiliging????

Ik gebruik(te) notepad++ en die wou dus wel installeren totdat W2k zei 'Ho, mijn notepad is beter en zet ik er weer overheen' de e*kel.

Iemand idee???

pre-install note:

Follow the user prompts through the installation. If you wish UltraEdit to be added to your path so that it may replace Notepad, this option must be chosen during installation.

En notepad.txt file: (zit in de notepad.zip)

WINDOWS 2000 NOTEPAD INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

** Note - You need Administrator access to make these changes (at least
with a properly configured system).

1. In the WINNT\system32\dllcache directory, rename the old notepad.exe
(if it exists) to notepad.exe.bak or something similar so that you'll have
it if you need to go back. (This directory may be hidden.)

2. Copy the attached notepad.exe into your dllcache directory. Windows 2000
will notice the change and pop up a dialog box asking you to insert your
Windows 2000 CD so that it can restore the file. Hit <Cancel>. You will be
asked if you're sure that you want to use the unsigned version; answer <Yes>.

3. After Step 2, you can go ahead and copy your new notepad.exe into
your WINNT and WINNT\system32 directories. You'll get the same dialog
boxes that you did in Step 2; just give the same responses. You're now
ready to roll. (If you do this before Step 1, Windows 2000 will take its
original copy from dllcache and replace your new versions.)

** Note that if you have your Windows 2000 CD in your drive when you do this,
it's possible that instead of popping up a dialog box, Windows 2000 will pull
the old notepad.exe from the CD and replace your new notepad.exe
without any notification. If this occurs, it won't hurt anything,
you'll just have to take the CD out and re-do Steps 1 and 2.

Dat kun je wel verhelpen. Zoek eerst op notepad.exe,
je zal er een stuk of wat vinden. Delete die, eerst degene
in de system file protection map. Wel snel doen, anders
begint hij te mekkeren dat hij hem weer terug zet.
Dan Notepad+ kopieren naar \winnt.

Ultraedit is imo een werelds programma.
Vooral als je met regelmaat programmeert is het een handige
app.
Alleen lijkt het wel dat hij bij het afsluiten ff een pauze inlast iemand dit
probleem ook?

Ik heb dat probleem ook gehad. Bij mij lag het aan McAfee VirusScan, onder Windows 2000. Sinds ik Norton gebruik, heb ik geen last meer.

Ik draai idd w2k maar geen Mcaffe maar AVP zal die eens proberen uit te zetten.

Nee,
het afsluiten gaat hier juist supersnel.. Alleen bij 2gb en groter wilt het wel eens eff duren.

Ik werkte al jaren met UltraEdit (wereldproggie), maar sinds ik windows 2000 draai dus niet meer. Ik (en ook vrienden van me) heb precies hetzelfde probleem. Bij het opstarten duurt het een aantal seconden voordat er iets gebeurt. Ook bij het afsluiten heb je die verschrikkelijk irritante wachttijd. Ik heb er nog nergens fixes oid voor gezien, dus het zal toch een probleem zijn dat niet voor veel mensen geldt. Ik draai ook McAfee anti4us, maar als iemand anders ook met AVP dit probleem heeft, ligt het dus ergens anders aan...

Voorlopig is het voor mij Textpad voor de nfo's...
