Software-update: Microsoft ActiveSync 3.7

Microsoft heeft een nieuwe versie uitgebracht van ActiveSync. Versie 3.7 is volgens het bedrijf probleemlozer dan de voorgangers en biedt het beste uit 3.5 en 3.6. De release notes voor deze release zien er als volgt uit:

ActivceSync 3.7 contains fixes making synchronization more trouble free than ever before and includes all the significant improvements brought to you in ActiveSync 3.5 and 3.6: it is easy to install and use while offering the best levels of reliability. If you had not already installed ActiveSync 3.5, ActiveSync 3.7 will also bring you up to date with compatibility to Microsoft Office XP and Windows XP.

Ik kreeg een vastloper van de install software omdat activesync nog geopend was... na afsluiten van activesync ging ie verder prima!

Heb het idee dat het allemaal net wat soepeler loopt onder Office XP en windows XP... dus die bewering klopt dan wel...

* ActiveSync pass-through connection - Enables you to use your USB cradle connection to pass through your desktop PC to access the Internet or a network with your mobile device. You can then perform tasks, such as browsing the Internet, or downloading IMAP/POP 3 e-mail messages.
* Improved USB support - Windows 2000 USB driver issues in the previous version of ActiveSync have been fixed.
* More robust synchronization with Outlook - Synchronization with Outlook is now more reliable and robust than before.
* Configure synchronization settings prior to first synchronization, including custom synchronization settings - Enable all of the ActiveSync options you need in a single step.

And in the interest of completeness, there are a couple of known issues to ponder:
* ActiveSync 3.7 does not support remote synchronization over a terminal service connection.
* If you are running AvantGo on another device in addition to your Pocket PC, you may experience stalling problems when you synchronize your Pocket PC with AvantGo. If you experience this problem, upgrade to the latest version of AvantGo on your Pocket PC and all devices where it is installed.

Goh zit dat er eindelijk in?? Zat ik al op te wachten sinds ik mijn WinCe pro machientje heb gekocht (lang geleden ..)
Je zou toen denken dat er gesynchroniseerd kon worden met Outlook en dan ook op de server, maar nee hoor. Alleen met je lokale agenda. Daarna ding maar (denkbeeldig) in de ton gemikt.

Ik vindt zulke mogelijkheden niet alleen een optie maar gewoon een MUST die er vanaf het begin al in had moeten zitten. En ook zonder gebruik van een Mobile Information Server hoor.

Een mogelijkheid om net als elke Outlookclient inloggen op je Exchangeserver welke de gedeelde agenda serveert.
Ze laten nu zien dat een continue verbinding dus echt wel kan door de pass-through connection in de nieuwe versie.

Dus m.a.w. eerst als Outlookclient werken en dan een synchronisatie bewerkstelligen.
Met de locale outlook kan dit ook dus waarom bovenstaande niet.

Dit is de grootste reden voor mij om geen mobile device meer te gebruiken.

Gebruik nu Staroffice server 5.2 en dat werkt prima. Geen Exchangeserver nodig. Synchroniseren werkt toch al niet, met geen van beide (zonder veel moeite met export - import).
