Zoals we inmiddels van Mozilla gewend zijn, is kort na het uitkomen van een stabiele versie van webbrowser Firefox de eerste bètarelease van de volgende versie alweer verschenen. In versie 31, die als alles goed gaat op 22 juli beschikbaar komt, is Firefox onder meer in Windows in staat om .ogg audio- en videobestanden, en pdf-documenten te openen. Verder krijgen nieuwe tabbladen een zoekveld. Hieronder staat het nog incomplete overzicht van de verbeteringen die we in versie 31 tegemoet kunnen zien.

- Removal of the CAPS infrastructure for specifying site-specific permissions (via capability.policy.* preferences). Most notably, attempts to use this functionality to grant access to the clipboard will no longer work. The sole exception is the checkloaduri permission, which may still be used as before to allow sites to load file:// URIs.

- Slow shut downs lead to 'Firefox is already running' warning (see 966469 and 985655)
