Software-update: Calibre 0.9.32

Calibre is een opensource- en crossplatform-e-bookbeheerprogramma. Het kan onder andere alle relevante informatie en kaftafbeeldingen opzoeken en e-boeken converteren om ze geschikt te maken voor de diverse soorten e-readers. Verder kan het kranten, tijdschriften en nieuwsartikelen op basis van rss-feeds omzetten in e-bookformaat, en kunnen er boeken worden aangeschaft bij de bekende webwinkels. Elke vrijdag verschijnt er een nieuwe versie en het changelog voor versie 0.9.32 ziet er als volgt uit:

New Features

• Show the number of currently selected books in the status bar at the bottom of the book list.
• Driver for PocketBook Touch 623 and Yarvik tablet Xenta 13c. Closes tickets: 1182850, 1181669.
• When editing dates such as published, allow pressing the minus key to clear the date and the = key to set the date to today. Closes tickets: 1181449.

Bug Fixes

• EPUB/AZW3 Output: Fix regression that caused erros when trying to convert documents that have URLs with invalid (non-utf-8) quoting. Closes tickets: 1181049.
• When backing up metadata automatically remove XML invalid chars, instead of erroring out.
• ebook-viewer: Fix --debug-javascript option causing an error when running from a binary build on os x and linux.
• Fix switch library dialog and menu both popping up when clicking the library button in some window managers.
• Apple driver: Fix a regression in 0.9.31 that could cause sending books to the device to hang.
• When setting metadata using the edit metadata dialog, convert newlines, tabs etc. to normal spaces. Closes tickets: 1182268
• EPUB/AZW3 Output: Fix pages that contain only an svg image being regarded as empty and removed during splitting.
• AZW3 Input: Handle files that use unnecessary svg: prefixes. Closes tickets: 1182257
• EPUB Input: Handle EPUB files that have no <metadata> section in their OPF. Closes tickets: 1181546
• Get Books: Fix Foyles UK store plugin. Closes tickets: 1181494

Functioneert nog steeds niet goed in Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon (64bit). De eerste keer na installatie start hij goed op maar alle volgende keren krijg ik een klein, onhandelbaar scherm wat ook niet op de normale manier is af te sluiten. In Mint 14 MATE werkt hij wel.

Edit: Oplossing gevonden in het Mint forum:

I found a quick fix for this. Apparently there is something going on with Cinnamons effects that are making this problem happen. To fix it go to Cinnamon settings, then go to effects, then change Maximizing Windows to "scale". Now Calibre will open properly.

Edit 2: Inmiddels ben ik er achter dat het ook werkt als je de bureaubladeffecten uitschakelt.
