Software-update: Pinta 1.3

Pinta omschrijft zichzelf als een opensource-fotobewerkingsprogramma dat te vergelijken is met Paint.NET. Het doet zijn werk bovendien op verschillende platforms, zoals Linux, Mac OS X en Windows. De eigen website biedt niet al te veel meer informatie, maar je kan voor kennisvergaring terecht in deze Google-groep. De ontwikkelaars hebben alweer enkele dagen geleden versie 1.3 uitgebracht, voorzien van de volgende lijst met aanpassingen:

Hier zat ik op te wachten. Gimp is veel te uitgebreid en Paint.net draait alleen maar op Windows. Ik draai Windows, Linux en OSX door elkaar en wil me niet elke keer opnieuw moeten verdiepen in de werking van een teken programma en alle daarbij horende hotkeys voor de 6x per jaar dat ik een plaatje edit

Alleen de 1e kleine domper al te pakken... De applicatie wil niet starten en geeft niet eens een foutmelding

Voor windows moet je ook ff de "Gtk# for Windows" installeren. Daarna start die wel goed op.

Zou het woord Pinta afgeleid zijn van Pinto, wat weer het tegenovergestelde van Bokeh is?...
Bokeh = achtergrond uit focus, mooie bokeh is zacht en romig met perfecte ronde bokehballen.
Pinto = alles in focus, dus zowel heel dichtbij als heel ver weg. klein diafragma, kleine brandpuntafstand, grote objectafstand en kleine sensor. Precies het tegenovergestelde van wat je voor bokeh nodig hebt

In de OSS-wereld willen ze nog weleens "rare" namen verzinnen die ofwel een heel raar acroniem zijn, ofwel een verminkt woord dat heel vergezocht is.

GIMP is ook zo'n mooie naam, maar ik zou toch liever zien dat de naam wat beschrijvender is, zoals in Paint Shop Pro of Photo-Paint (om de bleeding obvious maar even niet te noemen )

Pinta in het Portugees betekent "Kuikentje" of "K*t", dus ja ik heb mijn vrouw net aan het lachen gemaakt toen ik dit zei...(= Braziliaans)

Pinta is uiteindelijk gewoon het woord Paint, maar ze hebben de a naar achteren geplaatst.

Niet helemaal, Pinta is ook Spaans voor "markering", het is denk ik eigenlijk een contrived acronym of een backronym.

GIMP is inderdaad ook een hele mooi (GNU Image Manipulation Program)

Het mooiste vind ik nog altijd recursive acronyms (en dan houd ik op met dit college ) waarvan GNU een mooi voorbeeld is GNU is "GNU is Not Unix"

Pinta adverteert zichzelf vooral als tekenprogramma. Mooi. Schoenmaker, blijf bij je leest: concentreer vooral op functies die handig zijn voor tekenaars en je krijgt fans. Doe "van alles een beetje" en je bent de 13e in het dozijn.

Dat is ook niet helemaal waar, het presenteert zich als een makkelijke manier om foto's te bewerken en op foto's te 'schilderen'. Als je Krita en Pinta vergelijkt vind ik persoonlijk dat het duidelijk is dat Krita zich inderdaad erg als een tekenprogramma probeert te presenteren waar Pinta foto's wil bewerken.

Ik denk dat de complexiteit in GIMP en CS voor een groot deel te vinden is in dat ze allebei alles moeten kunnen voor een hele professionele groep mensen, dat heeft Pinta duidelijk niet als doel.
