Software-update: Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012

Microsoft Deployment Toolkit is een applicatie waarmee je als beheerder eenvoudig een Windows Vista, 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2, 8 Consumer Preview en Server 8 bèta-installatie in elkaar kan zetten om die vervolgens uit te rollen op verschillende computers. Ook kan ervoor gekozen worden om Office 2010 of 365 uit te rollen. Voor meer informatie verwijzen we naar de verschillende handleidingen die op de downloadpagina zijn terug te vinden. The Solution Accelerators team is pleased to announce Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2012 is now available for download. New features include:

• Support for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager
• Integration with Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset 7 (DaRT) and Security Compliance Manager (SCM)
• Support for Windows 8 Consumer Preview for deployments in a lab environment
• Support for Windows Server “8” Beta

Support for Configuration Manager 2012: MDT 2012 provides support for Configuration Manager 2012 RC2 releases. MDT 2012 fully leverages the capabilities provided by Configuration Manager 2012 for OS deployment. Users now also have the ability to migrate MDT 2012 task sequences from Configuration Manager 2007 to Configuration Manager 2012.

Ease Lite Touch installation: The Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolkit (DaRT) is now integrated with Lite Touch Installation, providing remote control and diagnostics. New monitoring capabilities are available to check on the status of currently running deployments. LTI now has an improved deployment wizard user experience. Enhanced partitioning support ensures that deployments work regardless of the current structure.

Support for Windows 8: MDT 2012 provides support for deploying Windows 8 Consumer Preview and Windows Server “8” Beta in a lab environment.

Na eerste installatie van MDT 2010 dacht ik echt van wat moet ik met al deze opties, maar nu het allemaal up and running is, zou ik toch niet weer graag terug gaan naar de oude manier van laptops installeren. Deze nieuwe versie maar even aan een test onderwerpen. Benieuwd naar de veranderingen.

Eindelijk, gelijk eens gaan testen.
Nog nooit gebruikt omdat er zoveel andere oplossingen voor zijn maar deze is wel best practice

Er zitten weer een paar leuke verbeteringen in, vooral een leuke is als je toegang hebt tot de DaRT-toolkit. Remote monitoring/throubleshooting van je installaties via RDP is erg handig: http://blogs.technet.com/...ure-dart-integration.aspx

Je kunt 'm eenvoudig over een oude installatie heen zetten, en na een 'update deploymentshare' kun je er mee werken . Natuurlijk niet vergeten om ook je boot-images te updaten en te vervangen in WDS
