Oracle heeft de vijfde update voor versie 4.1 van VirtualBox uitgebracht. VirtualBox kan worden gebruikt om andere besturingssystemen in een virtuele omgeving op een computer te installeren. Op die manier is het mogelijk om verschillende besturingssystemen op dezelfde hardware naast elkaar en tegelijkertijd te gebruiken. VirtualBox is beschikbaar voor Windows XP en hoger, Mac OS X, Linux en Solaris, en is in staat om een groot aantal gastbesturingssystemen te draaien.
De download van VirtualBox bevat alleen opensourcecomponenten. Een aantal onderdelen, waaronder ondersteuning voor usb 2.0-poorten en het remote display-protocol is closed source en kan worden toegevoegd door het installeren van de VirtualBox Extension Pack. Deze uitbreiding valt onder een Personal Use and Evaluation-licentie, oftewel PUEL. In versie 4.1.10 zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen doorgevoerd:
