New firmware update for the LEICA D-LUX 5
Leica Camera AG, Solms, has released a new firmware update for the Leica D-Lux 5. Users wishing to bring their camera up to date can now download the update free of charge and take advantage of the improvements.
The firmware update includes numerous changes that bring benefits for users. For example, the autofocus speed in the wide-angle domain and the functionality when using manual and automatic focusing have been improved. In addition, the new firmware increases automatic white-balance precision in adverse lighting conditions and increases the longest shutter speed from 60 to 250 seconds. New features include high-ISO-noise reduction for ISO 1600 and ISO 3200 and the implementation of an ‘Active mode' for image stabilisation. Further revisions concern continuous autofocus with the shutter button half depressed and the addition of a ‘Miniature effect' in the ‘My colours' mode (available for photo and video modes). The addition of manual adjustment of the LCD monitor and the external viewfinder to the camera settings menu round off this firmware upgrade.
Registered customers can now download the files containing the new firmware and an installation guide from the ‘UPDATES' section of the D-Lux 5 website: http://d-lux5.leica-camera.com .
