Alwil Software brengt binnenkort een nieuwe versie van zijn antivirusprogramma Avast uit en deze kan nu al als bèta worden getest. Avast is beschikbaar in de gratis Free Antivirus-uitvoering en de betaalde Pro Antivirus. Daarnaast is er Avast Internet Security, met onder andere een firewall en spambestrijding als extra's. In de nieuwe release zien we geen grote veranderingen terug, maar voornamelijk kleine verbeteringen en enkele bugfixes.

- Script Shield now works with Google Chrome, all versions of Firefox and Acrobat Reader
- Improvements in WebRep plugins (especially IE)
- Stability improvements in aswSP.sys and the avast! sandbox
- File system shield: improved on-close scanning
- avast! Internet Security: new antispam engine
- Web Shield and Script Shield: more options in the UI
