Opera heeft de eerste release-candidate van versie 11.50 van zijn gelijknamige webbrowser uitgebracht. Het Noorse bedrijf heeft browsers voor alle belangrijke computerplatforms en voor een groot aantal mobiele besturingssystemen. De browser biedt tabs, kan worden aangestuurd met mouse gestures, heeft een ingebakken downloadmanager en biedt bescherming tegen phishing en malware. Er kan met Opera niet alleen worden gesurfd, maar ook gemaild; er is een ingebouwde bittorrentclient en er kan worden gechat via irc of met het door Opera zelf ontwikkelde sociale netwerk Unite. In versie 11.50, die onder de codenaam Swordfish uitgebracht wordt, treffen we onder andere verbeteringen aan in de speed dial en wachtwoordsynchronisatie, en zijn er diverse verbeteringen aan de lay-out-engine Presto aangebracht. Deze release kan als Opera Next worden gedownload, of in de gewone uitvoering.
