Software-update: LSM-based Security-Enhanced Linux

johanvdw licht ons in over een nieuwe versie van een speciale Linux-kernel, welke in het oog springt door de makers ervan: de NSA. Zij beschrijven versie 2.4 van dit stuk software als volgt:

The 2.4 LSM-based Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) prototype is implemented as a kernel module that uses the security hooks provided by the Linux Security Modules (LSM) kernel patch. The 2.4 SELinux kernel is based on the 2.4.19-lsm1 patch from the LSM web site, but includes further changes made to the LSM patch and to the SELinux module. In addition to the kernel module, SELinux consists of a policy compiler (checkpolicy), an example security policy configuration, a utility (setfiles) and configuration (file_contexts) for labeling the file system, some modified daemons, and some new and modified utilities.[break]Wie dit wel interresant vindt klinken kan hier terecht voor een alles-in-een pakket. Wie liever in meerdere keren download, of liever alleen de nieuwe code wil kan op de site terecht.

Paar mooie ingebouwde securityholes voor de NSA, kunnen zij ook mooi meelezen op jouw computer.

Voor de rest zal het ding wel zeer beveiligd zijn denk ik, als ze er zelf ook op gaan draaien.

Tuuurlijk joh... ga jij ff -tig duizend regels code doorsneupen op zoek naar die backdoor? Denk dat het wel ff duurt voor je zoiets vindt...

Ik denk dat ze het risico niet zouden willen lopen aangezien niemand die software dan nog wil hebben.

En zou dat niet projectsgewijs worden gedaan met veel mensen die allemaal 1000 regels doorlezen ofzo?
