Software-update: Cerberus FTP Server 4.0.9.0

Met enige regelmaat komen ftp-servers voorbij in de Meuktracker, waaronder Filezilla Server en Serv-U. Eentje die niet zo vaak aan bod komt is Cerberus FTP Server. Dit programma is verkrijgbaar in de smaken Personal, Standard en Professional, en de onderlinge verschillen kunnen op deze pagina worden bekeken. Prijzen beginnen rond de 40 euro voor een Personal-licentie. Donderdag is versie 4.0.9.0 van Cerberus FTP Server uitgekomen en hieronder is te vinden wat er in dit programma allemaal is veranderd sinds de vorige vermelding in de Meuktracker:

Changes in version 4.0.9.0:

• Added elliptic curve key exchange for SSH SFTP as specified in RFC 5656
• Added support for elliptic curve SSH client keys
• FTPS performance improvements
• No longer sets file size on file creation when SFTP clients request it

• RFC conformance for active mode data connections established from non-standard FTP ports (L-1 instead of always from port 20)
• RFC comformance for default data port when no PORT or PASV command is issued
• Fixed a bug that could result in service shutdown when terminal services connections are terminated

• Fixed rare bug that could cause failure to accept connections
• Minor logging improvements
• Added right-click log window copy to clipboard
• Enabling or disabling remote web access not longer requires a service restart

Momenteel twijfel ik steeds meer aan dit soort oplossingen. Je hebt zoveel varianten die verder gaan. Noem maar een Dropbox. Voor een bedrijf zijn er andere oplossingen die meer geintegreerd kunnen worden in hun platform. Kansloze missie lijkt me.

Nu is Dropbox natuurlijk heel wat anders dan een FTP server...

€50,- voor een personal license, zonder intergratie van AD/LDAP, vind ik duur voor een FTP-site, dan nog niet gesproken over de standaard of professional license.
