Er is een nieuwe ontwikkelversie van versie 3.00 van de mediaspeler AIMP uitgebracht. Het buildnummer is van 815 naar 832 gegaan, maar hij wordt nog steeds als bèta 1 aangeboden. AIMP is een gratis lichtgewichtmediaspeler van Russische makelij, met ondersteuning voor de meest gebruikte muziekformaten. Het uiterlijk heeft wat weg van Winamp en is door middel van skins aan te passen. AIMP heeft een 18-kanaalsequalizer aan boord en ondersteunt plug-ins. Verder kan het programma cd's rippen, muziekbestanden converteren en tags editten.
Versie 3.0 bevat naast een nieuw uiterlijk onder andere een nieuwe sound engine, een compleet vernieuwde muziekbibliotheek en ondersteuning voor ReplayGain. In deze update zijn verder de volgende veranderingen doorgevoerd:

Maar de basiscode is echt nog steeds hetzelfde. Ze zijn met de ontwikkeling alleen allebei een iets andere weg ingeslagen zoals ik al aangaf. Maar dat bijvoorbeeld vele plugins (soms met een kleine aanpassing) heen en weer gebruikt kunnen worden, geeft toch al aan dat het basicly hetzelfde is. Ik gebruik overigens geen van beide spelers, maar als ik moest kiezen dan ging ik persoonlijk denk ik ook voor Aimp, omdat het gewoon wat overzichtelijker is. Ik vind die extreem uitgebreide library etc van Winamp ook niet zo fijn... maar ik ken er genoeg met enorme muziekcollecties die erbij zweren, willen van geen andere speler weten want de library is altijd ruk :strip_exif()/u/292520/crop5898b460d9059_cropped.gif?f=community){kind=small}
