Driver-update: ATI Catalyst 10.6

AMD heeft nieuwe Catalyst-drivers klaarstaan en zoals gewoonlijk vormen de maand en het jaar van uitgave het versienummer. De drivers zijn beschikbaar voor Windows XP, Vista en 7, met aparte downloads voor 32bit- en 64bit-omgevingen. De nieuwe drivers zijn geschikt voor alle Radeon-modellen vanaf de HD 2400-serie; oudere kaarten zijn op de 9.3-release aangewezen. Onderaan deze posting staan zoals gebruikelijk de directe links naar de pagina's met de beschikbare downloads.

AMD levert sinds kort de CrossFireX-profielen niet meer alleen met de driver mee, maar ook als losse download, zodat updates sneller kunnen worden aangeboden. Nieuw in versie 10.6 is hardwareversnelling voor versie 10.1 van Adobe Flash, ondersteuning voor OpenGL 3.3 en 4.0, en er zijn diverse prestatieverbeteringen waar te nemen. Uiteraard zien we ook de gebruikelijke lijst met bugfixes terug, gevolgd door een verzameling problemen die wel al bekend zijn, maar waaraan nog wordt gewerkt.

Known Issues Under the Windows 7 Operating System

The following section provides a summary of open issues that may be experienced under the Windows 7 operating system in the latest version of Catalyst. These include:

• Drag and Drop transcoded H264i content may showing deinterlacing lines
• "Desktop Window Manager has stopped working" error may appear after driver installation on specific cards and will not be enabled until after restart
• [Catalyst Control Center] Customized Avivo video settings may revert to default values after resuming from sleep/hibernation during SD or Blu-ray playback
• Blank screen may be observed when flashlight is turned on in "The Chronicles of Riddick 2" with Screen Space Ambient Occlusion enabled
• Green texture corruption may be observed when resolution/video settings are changed in "Metro 2033" game in DirectX 10 and 11 mode on some cards
• Drag and Drop transcoded H264i content may experience audio and video synchronization issues when viewed on some devices

• "Age Of Empires: The Rise of Rome" may terminate abruptly and display error message when the diplomacy button is clicked
• Minor frame drops may be observed while viewing HD interlaced content

2x geprobeerd te installeren voor een 5970 op windows 7 x64 maar krijg elke keer een bsod met system service exception en als ik google ben ik niet de enige. En ik zie ook nu dat mijn beide raid 1 arrays opeens aan het initialiseren zijn .

Voor mij werkte nu de volgende oplossing:

If you should happen to get a BSOD during install on Windows 7/Vista x64 systems there is a easy fix:

1. Uninstall any ATI drivers on your system.
2. Run the CCC installer but I suggest canceling after it extracts the files.
3. Navigate to: C:\ATI\Support\10-6_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_enu\Config
4. EDIT InstallManager.cfg
5. Change WorkaroundInstall=false to WorkaroundInstall=true
6. Run Setup.exe and the CCC should install without a problem

This will allow the installer to run.

Met deze catalyst heb ik eindelijk geen crashes meer met flash in full-screen

Vraag me af of dit de OpenGL problemen met de Q3 engine verhelpt. OpenGL driver overriden met 10.4 is wat vies.

Edit: Natuurlijk niet! Had ook niets anders verwacht. Wat maakt de Q3 engine nou toch uit

Enfin, voor problemen met rare Q3 textures moet je even :

expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll

uitvoeren in de driver map (waar hij ze tijdelijk uitpakt, dus C:\ati\10.4\......) en vervolgens de uitgepakte DLL in de gamemap (waar de .exe staat) zetten. Voor RTCW:ET werkt het!

In geval van Quake Live, kan je de 10.4-versie atioglxx.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer zetten.

Zo wordt de 10.6-versie intact gelaten. Het werkt dan alleen voor Quake Live omdat deze wordt uitgevoerd via Internet Explorer.

Hebben ze ook de idle clock lock er weer afgehaald of is dat nog steeds ?
Anders blijf ik wel bij 10.4.

Want 10.5 was de idle memory clock 1200 van mij ATI 5870 en dat resulteerde in een hogere energie verbruik en hogere idle temps.
Niet dat dat erg is maar ook de voltage valt dan niet te regelen, en dit is nou juist wat ik wel wil want standaard 0.9500 volt is te weinig en resulteerd in BSOD's als ik bijv youtube filmpjes bekijk of gewoon me email zit te lezen.

Voor mij was het belangrijk dat m'n clocks op 400/1000 stonden in 2D modus.
Met 157/300 kreeg je flikkerend beeld in 2D met 2 schermen.

Ik krijg bij installatie een medling dat INF file not found is, en dan heb ik geen driver geinstalleerd alleen control center. Leuk is dat weer.

Heb ook een uninstall gedaan om zeker te weten.

heb een 4870 trouwens.

Dan maar weer 10.5 erop.

Bij installatiue van 10.5 wil hij alleen het stuurprogramma installeren, de rest houd hij van 10.6 hopen dat het geen kwaad kan, ik heb geen zin om nog een paar keer te uninstallen en opnieuw op te starten.

Shit nu heb ik dezelfde melding bij 10.5, nu is mn installatie verkloot. En geen nieuwe driver en dus de oude ook niet terug kunnen zetten, feest

Heb maar een systeem herstel gedaan van gister avond. Maar daarmee is het probleem nog niet opgelost helaas. Nouja hij doet het eerst weer zien we later wel.

in c:\ati zet hij na installatie ook de drivers neer.
vanaf daar kan je de drivers handmatig updaten naar 10.6 als het moet via device manager.
