Woensdag is met versienummer 0.8.17 een nieuwe uitgave van het opensource-instantmessagingprogramma Miranda IM verschenen. Miranda IM wordt alleen voor Windows ontwikkeld en biedt standaard onder andere ondersteuning voor ICQ, irc, MSN, AIM, Jabber en Yahoo. De download is nog geen 1,7MB groot en daarmee krijg je een sober en licht programma. Zowel de functionaliteit als het uiterlijk van het programma kunnen echter met meer dan 350 verschillende add-ons en plug-ins geheel naar eigen wens worden aangepast. Miranda IM is daarmee een van de meest aanpasbare im-clients voor Windows. Sinds versie 0.8.15 zijn de volgende aanpassingen in het programma doorgevoerd:
