AMD heeft nieuwe Linux-drivers uitgebracht voor zijn ATI Radeon-videokaarten. De download is een kleine 55MB groot, maar kan zowel voor 32bits- als 64bits-omgevingen worden gebruikt. Versie 8.7 van de Linux-driver kan overweg met versies 6.7 tot en met 7.3 van X.org, Linux-kernel 2.6 en hoger en glibc 2.2 of 2.3. Linux-kernel 2.4 en Xfree86 4.3 worden niet langer ondersteund. De laatste versie die dat deed was versie 8.42.3. Versie 8.7 van de Linux-drivers voegen onder andere ondersteuning toe voor Ubuntu 8.04 en Suse Linux Enterprise 10 Service Pack 2, en voorlopige ondersteuning voor Open Suse 11 en Red Flag Linux Desktop 7.0. - The display no longer fails to display an image after the installation of the Linux graphics driver.
- Corruption is no longer noticed when switching from the laptop's display to the external CRT display device.
- SECAM, NTSC or PAL signal changes when using aticonfig or Catalyst Control Center and now gets applied to the TV display output.
- An X segmentation fault no longer occurs when launching SUZI/textured video.
- Ubuntu 7.04: aticonfig --enable-monitor no longer results in X restarting.
- Creating two successive connections no longer results in direct GL context to fail.
