AMD heeft nieuwe Linux-drivers uitgebracht voor zijn ATI Radeon-videokaarten. De download is een kleine 55MB groot, maar deze kan zowel voor 32bits- als 64bits-omgevingen worden gebruikt. Versie 8.5 van de Linux-driver kan overweg met versies 6.7 tot en met 7.3 van X.org, Linux-kernel 2.6 en hoger en glibc 2.2 of 2.3. Linux-kernel 2.4 en Xfree86 4.3 worden niet langer ondersteund. De laatste versie die dat deed was versie 8.42.3. De belangrijkste verbetering in deze release is de introductie van Mipmap Detail, Catalyst AI en AA-filters in het Catalyst Control Center. - GoogleEarth: Launching the application in horizontal mode on a system running X no longer results in corruption being noticed.

- Bandwidth corruption may be noticed when setting the desktop resolution to 2048x1536 on systems containing an ATI Radeon HD 3200 series of product.
