Xfire heeft maandag versie 1.91 uitgebracht van zijn gelijknamig chatprogramma dat vooral bedoeld is voor de fanatieke gamers. Het is namelijk mogelijk om in Xfire zowel binnen als buiten spellen via tekst en spraak te chatten. Verder worden er statistieken bijgehouden van de prestaties in verschillende spellen, is te zien welke spellen de mensen uit je contactenlijst op dat moment spelen en zijn gamepatches en demo's via een eigen p2p-netwerk binnen te halen. Op dit moment worden er iets meer dan duizend spellen ondersteund, waarvan er 175 de zogenaamde 'one-click join' en ruim 500 'in-game chat' ondersteunen.
