Driver-update: ATi Catalyst 7.11

AMD logo (60 pix) Advanced Micro Devices heeft zojuist de elfde Catalyst-release van dit jaar voor de ATi Radeon-videokaarten uitgebracht en deze heeft logischerwijs versienummer 7.11 meegekregen. De driver is beschikbaar voor Windows XP en Vista, in zowel de 32bits-, 64bits- en Media Center-uitvoering en zijn geschikt voor alle Radeon-modellen vanaf de 9500-serie. Onderaan deze posting zijn voor het gemak de directe links te vinden naar de pagina's waar de beschikbare downloads staan. Deze release bevat de gebruikelijke lange lijst met verbeteringen en een verzameling van problemen die reeds bekend zijn, maar waar de oplossing nog niet voor is meegeleverd. Hieronder zijn de release notes te vinden voor versie 7.11 van de Catalyst-drivers:

Resolved Issues for the Windows Vista Operating System
  • Bioshock: Pulling the lever in the chamber no longer results in the game failing.
  • Bioshock, Lost Planet, and World In Conflict: Connecting certain dual link display devices to certain ATI Radeon 2x00 series of cards no longer results in limited display resolutions being available.
  • Call of Juarez: Enabling CrossFire no longer results in flickering being noticed when playing the DX10 version of the game.
  • Doom 3: Playing the game on a system containing an ATI Radeon HD 2600 series of product and running the Windows Vista operating system no longer results in display corruption being noticed when using the console commands.
  • Fable: A black ring is no longer seen around the player character.
  • Hellgate, Lord of the Rings, PT Boat, and World in Conflict: Corruption is no longer noticed when AA is enabled.
  • Rainbow Six Vegas: Setting the display resolution to 1600x1200 and applying the in-game settings to high no longer results in corruption being noticed when using an HDMI display device.
  • Roxio Creator Premier v9: MyDVD: Attempting to burn a DVD no longer results in the burn process failing at the encoding preview.
  • Serious Sam: the Second Encounter Demo: Game play is no longer delayed when playing the game on a system running Windows XP and containing an ATI Radeon HD 2400 series of product.
  • A blank screen is no longer displayed after unchecking all the Component Video formats except when the 480i30 custom mode is applied.
  • Using PowerDVD to playback a Blu-ray title no longer results in the Windows Vista operating system failing with a 0x000000EA error.
  • A missing Korean character is no longer noticed within the install shield.
  • Catalyst Control Center: An error message is no longer displayed when clicking on Help.
  • Setting the display device to 1600x1200 75Hz no longer results in the HD DVD playback window appearing blank.
  • Google Sketchup no longer fails to pan when AA is enabled on systems containing an ATI Radeon X1300/1550/1600 series of product.
  • Setting the display resolution to either 1776x1024 or 1920x1024 30i no longer results in the display devices failing to resume from an S3 state.
  • Connecting a display device via Component Video as the primary display device and a DFP as a secondary display device no longer results in extended desktop mode failing to be applied.
  • Cyberlink Press Player 2911: Rotating the display by 90 degrees during playback of a DVD title no longer results in the Windows Vista operating system failing to respond.
  • Google Sketchup no longer fails to pan when AA is enabled on systems containing an ATI Radeon X1300/1550/1600 series of product
  • Playing a 1080i video file using WinDVD no longer results in Overlay Theater Mode failing to work.
  • GTA San Andreas: Enabling AFR mode and CrossFire no longer results in corruption being noticed in the opening cinematic of the game.
  • A black screen is no longer displayed at the DVD menu when using WinDVD8 to play a DVD title with DXVA enabled.
  • Hot plugging a D-sub DDC monitor to a notebook no longer results in the display device fails to switch on.
  • Connecting a TV as the secondary display device no longer results in the default resolution of 800x600 failing to be applied when extended desktop mode is enabled.
  • Combat Mission: Shock Force Demo v1.02: Setting the ATI left-click compatibility option to off and starting a new battle no longer results in the game failing to respond when clicking the left mouse button on various options within the game.
  • A no signal error message is no longer displayed when the A/V sync on Component input source is set to 720p or 1080i resolution.
Resolved Issues for the Windows XP Operating System
  • Enemy Territory: Quake Wars: Corruption is no longer noticed with the use of rectangle textures.
  • Enemy Territory: Quake Wars: The game no longer fails to respond when triple buffering is enabled.
  • Unreal Tournament 2004: Enabling CrossFire followed by attempting to change the in-game display resolution no longer results in a loss of vsync.
  • On certain products, dragging player window from the primary to the secondary display no longer results in hardware acceleration being disabled which resulted in the CPU usage increasing.
  • With some h.264 titles that have MPEG2 introductions; playback no longer switches from hardware accelerated to software once the introductory content is finished.
  • With some h.264 titles that have MPEG2 intros, playback no longer switches from hardware accelerated to software once the introductory content is finished.
  • Enabling extended desktop mode following by launching the Windows Media Player no longer results in the player failing to appear on the secondary display device in full screen mode.
  • The CrossFire option found in the Catalyst Control Center is now available on systems containing an ATI Radeon X1800 series of product and running the Windows XP operating system.
  • Users running Windows XP on a system containing an ATI Radeon HD 2600 no longer experience a drop in performance from single card mode to CrossFire mode when software CrossFire is enabled in certain applications.
  • Pressing the power button to resume from an S3 state no longer results in only the mouse cursor being visible and the screen remaining blank until the mouse is moved.
  • Dragging the WinDVD player from the primary display to the secondary display no longer results in the player failing to respond. Further, closing the WinDVD player using the Task Manager may result in the operating system failing to respond.
  • Enabling extended desktop mode and dragging the PowerDVD window to the secondary display device no longer results in the PowerDVD window becoming black with only the audio being heard.
  • Catalyst Control Center: German character are no longer truncated in the Profile Manager Applications tab.
  • Connecting a Dell 30" LDC display device to an ATI Radeon HD 2600 series of product no longer results in flashing or no display image.
  • Corruption is no longer noticed when enabling Theater mode and enabling clone mode.
  • The Enable ATI OverDrive clocks for 3D applications only checkbox is now checked and grayed out when the OverDrive option in the Catalyst Control Center is unlocked.
  • Ending playback of a Blu-ray title followed by toggling the CrossFire settings (on or off) no longer results in the Windows XP operating system failing to respond.
  • Enabling CrossFire and setting the display resolution to 2560x1600 no longer results in HD DVD titles playing back as if in fast forward mode when using a Cyberlink player.
  • Corruption is no longer noticed when dragging a window across the desktop edge in four monitor configuration under Windows XP.
  • Connecting a single display device to a secondary graphics adapter no longer results in extended desktop mode being applied.
  • Playing the online game TianLongBaBu for an extended period of time (2 hours or more) on a system containing an ATI Radeon HD2400 or HD2600 no longer results in the operating system failing to respond.
Known Issues Under the Windows Vista Operating System
  • City of Heroes: Attempting to play the game on a system with a dual link panel connected to it may result in the Windows Vista operating system failing to respond.
  • Enemy Territory: Quake Wars: Enabling Super AA and soft particles may result in corruption being noticed in the main menu and through-out game play.
  • Lost Planet: Setting AA to either 4x or 8x may result in the game failing to respond.
  • Resuming from an S3 state may result in a longer than expected time for the Windows Vista operating system to resume.
  • Catalyst Control Center->OverDrive: The OverDrive setting are not retained for individual accounts.
  • The Record function currently fails to work when using an ATI All-In-Wonder X1300 and time shifting is enabled.
  • A green or black screen may be displayed when configuring MCE to ATSC mode.
  • The 3D aspect may appear blank when launching a second instance of the Catalyst Control Center. This issue may also be experienced under the Windows XP operating system.
  • The Catalyst Control Center version number may fail to be updated after the installation of a newer Catalyst Control Center.
  • Dragging player window to secondary display while playing back HD content and moving it back to primary may result in blank player window.
  • Connecting a secondary display device and enabling CrossFire, followed by disabling CrossFire no longer results in CrossFire pages in the Catalyst Control Center showing that it is enabled.
  • When running certain OpenGL samples, the ATI Radeon graphics adapter may not be running at the requested clock values on a CrossFire configured system.
  • The Catalyst Control Center version number may fail to be updated after the installation of a newer Catalyst Control Center.
  • Setting the display resolution to 1680x1050 and playing either an MPEG 2HDi/p, VC1, or H.264 interlaced content may result in the content not being accelerated and resolution restrictions being applied.
  • Performing an express install of the Catalyst Control Center may result in an error message being displayed when rebooting the system.
  • A black window may be displayed when attempting to play a DVD title using WinDVD 7 when Overlay Theater Mode and clone mode is enabled.
  • Enabling extended desktop mode and setting the display resolution to 1280x800 or higher, followed by playing an HD-DVD using PowerDVD, may results in the HD-DVD title failing to play.
  • Creating a secondary user account and switching from the secondary user account to the primary user account may result in CrossFire failing to be enabled.
  • Catalyst Control Center: German character are truncated in the Profile Manager Applications tab.
  • Connecting a secondary display device to a system containing an ATI Radeon x1200/1250/1270 series of product and enabling clone mode or extended desktop mode may result in horizontal line corruption being noticed when using a high refresh rate and display resolution.
  • The color depth may change to 8 bpp when enabling or disabling CrossFire for the first time.
  • The Catalyst Control Center version number may fail to be updated after the installation of a newer Catalyst Control Center.
  • Frame flipping may occur while playing certain VC-1 content titles.
  • Connecting a secondary display device may result in the Anisotropic Filtering option being missing for second adapter until the system is rebooted.
  • Rebooting the operating system after changing the skin to any available option other than system skin may result in the Catalyst Control Center menu options no longer being visible.
  • The Catalyst Control Center menu option may fail to function when changing the skin from system skin to any other available skin.
  • Installing the WDM driver on systems containing an ATI TV Tuner product and an ATI graphics adapter may result in the WDM driver failing to install.
  • Connecting a secondary display device to a system containing an ATI Radeon x1200/1250/1270 series of product and enabling clone mode or extended desktop mode may result in horizontal line corruption being noticed when using a high refresh rate and display resolution.
  • TV corruption may be noticed when using an ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 series of product.
  • Connecting a secondary display device using the HDMI connector and enabling either clone mode or extended desktop mode may result in the WinDVD 7 player playing in a windowed mode on both display devices when Overlay Theater Mode is enabled.
  • Cyberlink: Playing an h.264 disk may result in corruption being noticed on the lower portion of the playback window.
  • The color depth may change to 8 bpp when enabling or disabling CrossFire for the first time.
  • The Windows Vista operating system may fail to respond when running the Auto-tune utility found in the Catalyst Control Center OverDrive option.
  • Playing an HD-DVD title using the Cyberlink player may result in corruption or the Windows Vista operating system failing to respond after a short period of playback time.
  • Enabling extended desktop mode and dragging the media player window between the desktops may result in the playback stopping.
Known Issues Under the Windows XP Operating System
  • Call of Juarez: Setting the game level with Optimal Quality and high in-game settings may result in the game level being blank.
  • Call of Juarez: Enabling Super AA and CrossFire may result in corruption being noticed when playing the game.
  • City of Heroes: A fatal error message may be displayed when exiting the game and attempting to launch the Catalyst Control Center in Advanced mode.
  • Enemy Territory: Quake Wars may have corruption on the water and sky after increasing the game resolution. Restarting the game at that higher resolution or issuing reloadImages command in the game console corrects the corruption. This issue only impacts graphics cards up to the ATI Radeon X850.
  • Lost Planet: Setting AA to either 4x or 8x may intermittently result in the game failing to respond.
  • STALKER: Flickering may be noticed when playing the game with AA set to 4x and full dynamic lighting is enabled.
  • Star Wars Battlefront 2: Setting the in-game options as follows: Overall Quality to High, View Distance to 99, LOD Distance to 99 and Anti-Aliasing to 6x may result in the game's loading bar reaching the end but the game failing to start.
  • Enabling CrossFire may result in display corruption being noticed when playing a DVD or media clip using either WinDVD 7, Windows Media Player or PowerDVD 6.
  • Catalyst Control Center>OverDrive: The OverDrive setting are not retained for individual accounts. This issue may also be experienced under the Windows Vista operating system.
  • Connecting two display devices to an ATI Radeon X1600 series product may result in the device manager failing to detect the secondary display device.
  • Installing the HDMI audio driver and the VIA audio chipset driver may results in a compatibility issue being noticed and a yellow exclamation mark showing up in the Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
  • Installing the Catalyst Control Center on a previously installed version may results in a warning message that the setup is installing over an earlier version, and that the previous version needs to be uninstalled before installing a more current version, resulting in the Catalyst Control Center failing to be installed.
  • Performing a fast user switch when running overfly.exe in Overlay Theater Mode may result in overfly.exe failing when switching back.
  • Catalyst Control Center: Configuring a system with multi-adapters may result in an error message being displayed when running the Test Custom Clocks.
  • Connecting a CRT display device as the secondary display and playing a Blu-ray DVD using a Cyberlink player may result in no video playback if extended desktop mode is enabled.
  • HD Audio may not work when setting the desktop resolution to 640x480@60Hz under the Windows XP operating system.
  • Enabling CrossFire and entering hibernation mode may result in the Windows XP operating system failing when attempting to resume from hibernation mode.
Known Issues Under the Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
  • FAR CRY: Playing the game on a system running either the Windows XP Professional x64 Edition or Windows XP operating system may result in corruption being noticed when using an ATI Radeon Xpress 1200 series of products.
  • Running an OpenGL application and attempting to rotate the desktop may result in corruption being noticed.
  • The Record function currently fails to work when using an ATI All-In-Wonder X1300 and time shifting is enabled.

Ergens 2 jaar terug hebben de heren van ATI de driver sources van Windows en Linux Uniform gemaakt.

En welke driver voor de ATI mobile en MCE ?
Met de HD2900XT @ Stock en E6850 en 2GB DDR800 op DX9.0c in Crysis Benchmark Tool 1.05

met Ati Catalyst 7.10 CCC Optimal Quality
1680x1050 all high noAA: avarage 16.62 fps

1280x1024 all high noAA: avarage 21.86 fps

Geen verschil merkbaar dus helaas...Maar volgens mij zijn de instellingen voor CCC 3D Optimal Quality wel verandert in 7.11 tov 7.10. Eigenlijk zou ik het eens moeten testen op optimal performance om te kijken wat er dan gebeurt, maar ik heb geen zin om weer terug te gaan naar 7.10. Maar opzich vind ik het geen verkeerde score.

Ook hier dus geen performance winst, vandaar dat het ook niet in de lijst voorkomt denk ik:) Alleen bugfixes wat ook erg belangrijk is, maar ik hoop toch dat ze er bij de volgende release wat meer frames voor Crysis uit kunnen persen en ook hier een aantal bugs weten te fixen

En ik dacht vandaag dus leuk mijn nieuwe ATI kaart te krijgen, is het een DOA.. :(

OT: Zit er verschil tussen de drivers voor AGP en PCI Expres? Ik heb namelijk nog een ouderwets systeem met een AGP kaart.
Maakt geen verschil, deze drivers gelden voor praktisch alle ATI kaarten (vanaf 9000 series etc)...
Maakt wel een verschil. De laatste paar drivers van Ati herkennen de AGP varianten van de 2x00 kaarten niet. De meeste drivers van VistionTek, Cube3d en anderen werken dan wel.
Hehe, drivers voor november die haast pas in december uitkomen :+

Verder een hele lijst inderdaad, ik ben benieuwd hoeveel winst, met name de HD3800-serie, deze kaarten hiermee halen in bepaalde games.

Inderdaad een hele lijst...
Maar ik vind niets terug over fixes voor Crysis.

Kijken of ik met deze drivers wel normaal Crysis kan spelen met mijn X1950 Pro.
De eerder uitgebrachte Hotfix lostte het continue paarse beeld niet op....

edt: de onderste downloadlink (onder logo) linkt overigens nog naar 7.10 ?

Jouw probleem lijkt wel op de mijne. Echter heb ik het altijd: met en zonder AA.
Maakt ook niet uit welke detail-level of resolutie ik aanzet.

De hotfix werkt bij mij dus ook niet.
Mocht je texture corruption hebben, de ATI Tray Tools zorgen voor texture corruption in Crysis, uninstallen en CCC gebruiken totdat Ray Adams een nieuwe versie uitbrengt.

ATI has released a new Catalyst 7.11 graphics driver. The driver contains a range of fixes, however note that ATI recommends Crysis players continue to use the ATI Hotfix drivers instead of these.
Eerder gaven ze ook wel performance winst op voor bepaalde kaarten en spellen, heb dat nu niet gezien?
