Software-update: DIKO 2.32

VMesquita Video Solutions is nog steeds druk bezig met de ontwikkeling van DIKO, een programma voor het converteren van videobestanden naar dvd- en svcd-formaat. Er kan gebruik worden gemaakt van de meegeleverde FreeEnc of andere al aanwezige encoders zoals CCE SP, QuEnc, HC en AQE. Daarnaast beschikt het programma over een aantal technieken om fouten op te sporen en te verhelpen om zo een goede beeldkwaliteit van het eindresultaat te garanderen. Het programma is in twee smaken binnen te halen, namelijk DIKO welke als freeware door het leven gaat en DIKO Gold waarvoor betaald moet worden. De verschillen tussen de twee smaken zijn op deze pagina na te lezen. Versie 2.32 is sinds kort beschikbaar en voorzien van de volgende aanpassingen:

Wie heeft er al ervaring met dit programma, werkt het beter dan DVDRebuilder met CCE of met HC??

DIKO staat voor Divx In KDVD Out, maar kan ook naar (K)(S)VCD converteren. De K betekent dat er non-standard bitrates & resoluties mogelijk zijn waardoor je veel meer video op een dvd/cd kwijt kan. Hoewel het dus buiten de normale standaard valt kunnen meeste dvd spelers er mee overweg.

KVCD is a form of (x)VCD. It basically modifies the standard MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 GOP structure and Quantization Matrix. It enables storing up to 120 minutes of medium SVCD or DVB approximate resolution video on a single 80 minute CD-R/CD-RW.[1]

These specifications have been published as KVCDx3, the standard resolution which produces 528x480 (NTSC) and 528x576 (PAL) MPEG-1 variable bit rate video, from 64 kbit/s to 3,000 kbit/s. Using a resolution of 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL), it's possible to encode video up to about 360 minutes of VCD quality on a single 80 minute CD-R.

Using KVCD parameters to create DVDs (KDVD), will enable you to create 100% DVD compliant MPEG-2 streams, capable of playing on any standard DVD player. This will allow you to put up to about 6 hours Full D-1 720x480 on one DVD, or about 10 hours at Half D-1 352x480.

Over het algemeen een erg lekker programma. Met een paar kliks kan je zeer goede encodes maken. Ook kan het wel meer aan als alleen divx/xvid in.. En kan ook met vele encoders overweg, ook CCE en HC..

Kun je hier ook al subtitles in hardcoden? Winavi doet dat bij mij altijd prima, maar dat is natuurlijk geen gratis programma.
