Na een klein oponthoud is dan nu eindelijk wel de vijfde bètarelease van Maxthon versie 2 beschikbaar gekomen. Maxthon is een zogenaamde 'wrapper', een schil om Internet Explorer. Het maakt gebruik van de engine van IE om de pagina's op te bouwen, maar heeft een eigen interface met allerlei extra functionaliteit. Onder de veranderingen in versie 2.0 treffen we onder andere een opgefrist uiterlijk aan, kunnen er verschillende proxy-instellingen per websites gebruikt worden, zijn er met een wachtwoord beveiligde profiles voor verschillende gebruikers, en gaat het door de modulaire opbouw efficiënt om met system recources.
